A Champion in Every Era

Born September 18, 1985 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Austin Dwayne Trout has proven himself a champion across two distinct eras of combat sports. A southpaw with elite footwork, fast hands, and ring IQ that few can match, Trout built his legacy the hard way — fighting the best, in their backyard, on their terms.

After a decorated amateur career (163–42–1) that saw him crowned 2004 U.S. National Amateur Welterweight Champion and narrowly miss the Olympic team, Trout turned professional in 2005. He climbed steadily through the ranks, winning the WBA Light Middleweight World Championship in 2011 by defeating Rigoberto Álvarez — brother of Canelo — by a dominant unanimous decision in Guadalajara, Mexico.

In December 2012, Trout delivered the performance of his career at Madison Square Garden, defeating Miguel Cotto by unanimous decision — the first man to beat Cotto at the Garden, and one of the most technically brilliant performances in light middleweight history.

In 2024, Trout made history again — becoming the first professional boxer to win a BKFC world title, capturing the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship Welterweight belt at BKFC 57. He has since defended the title multiple times, including a dominant performance in Germany, and currently sits #2 in the BKFC pound-for-pound rankings.

Austin Trout is a proud New Level Boxing sponsored fighter — wearing NLB gear as he continues to compete at the highest level of combat sports.
